Lagoon aeration

Aerated Lagoons are a simple way to biologically treat both municipal and industrial wastewater.

Mapal’s patented floating aeration units enable us to offer highly effective Fine Bubble aeration in lagoons; the aeration units float above the surface of the lagoon, and the  Fine Bubble diffusers float 30 cm above  the lagoon floor, therefore, the floor does not need to be levelled, and there is no damage to geotechnical lining.  

Using Fine Bubble diffusers, provides high efficiency aeration, with a high amount of oxygen per kW as compared to surface aerators.

Mapal has extensive experience in installation of its aeration units in live lagoons. Installation is conducted with a crane directly into the wastewater, therefore, the lagoon does not need to be emptied,  and workers do not need to enter the wastewater during installation or maintenance. 

Mapal’s units can supply a full aeration solution, or can work alongside existing surface aeration, when supplemental oxygen is needed. This is done by harnessing the units in place, therefore, there is no danger of them colliding with existing aerators.

Mapal offers Fine Bubble aeration for lagoons on a permanent or rental basis, as per the customer’s needs.
